Nettlebed News Sheet Number 29

March 2002

Once again, it is time to invite you to come along to our Annual Parish Meeting. It will be held on WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10th. in the Church Hall at 8.00p.m.

As most of you will be aware, this is the meeting when we tell you just what the Parish Council has been doing on your behalf throughout the year. It is your opportunity for raising any matters of concern relating to Parish affairs.

In addition, we have several speakers coming along. A short talk will be given by a representative of the Air Ambulance service - those who come to our rescue in the yellow helicopter, which has visited our area on several occasions.

Tessa McWhirter will explain more fully just what the Drop in Centre is all about, and PC Andy Thompson will update us on Police affairs in our area during the last year.

Nettlebed Drop in Centre.

As some of you will be aware , we have recently formed a drop in centre organised by Age Concern. We meet each Friday and already it is proving to be very popular and successful.

So what takes place? You can pop in for a coffee or tea from 10a.m.. You will have an opportunity to chat and meet people you know and those you do not know. Then follows some form of entertainment or activity (seated exercises, yoga, music, herbal remedies to name but a few). Lunch is available at the low cost of £3.00 but prior booking is necessary.

Varied activities take place after lunch. You can stay all day, or just for a brief spell - it is entirely up to you. Why not come along one Friday ( not Good Friday) and see what goes on? Transport is available to all within a 5 mile radius. We need more volunteers - no need to stay all day - just a few hours will help. No need to help every week - all ages welcome both men and women.Coffee making, washing up and chatting to folk are the only skills required.
