CRICKET PAVILION

The Sports Pavilion on  Nettlebed Recreation Ground which was built in 1908 has reached the end of it's life and badly needs replacing.
Built largely from timber with a felt roof this building has been a focal point for generations of Nettlebed families for so many activities. Although today it is only used by the Cricket Club and the annual fete, in times past it has been used for football, scouts, cubs and other activities.

The building has been repaired and patched many times over the years often by voluntary labour but sadly it is now beyond repair, the roof timbers rotten and the facilities all need modernising.

It would be unthinkable for this facility to be lost to the village. We need a replacement to fulfil the current needs and hopefully provide the opportunity to encourage other sporting activities on our very fine recreation ground.

           Pavilion Update - October 2008

Since September 2007 a sub group chaired by Dennis Rocks has been working on funding a replacement sports pavilion for Nettlebed. The existing structure is no longer a viable building to maintain due to the dilapidated state of the building, and we anticipate replacing it within the next 18 months.
Fund Raising has commenced and a number of events have already been held.

So far over £18k has been raised but a total of £70k is required to fund the demolition, new build and fitting out to meet the needs of the village.
The new pavilion will be supplied by Passmores Portable building‘s, once the appropriate consents have been given and the funds raised.
If you would like to support the project by way of assistance please contact Dennis Rocks on

A number of fund raising events are planned throughout 2008/2009 details of these can be found on this site (follow the link)

It is sincerely hoped that a replacement pavilion can be built during 2009.
