Nettlebed News Sheet Number 31

As stated in our last news-sheet, the Nettlebed Annual Parish Meeting will be held on

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 9th. at 8.00p.m. IN THE CHURCH HALL.

You will be updated on matters which the Parish Council has been dealing with on your behalf, together with an update on the new school/housing project. You will have an opportunity to raise any matters of concern with the Chairman and Parish, District and County Councillors. A speaker will be giving an illustrated talk on re-cycling. As mentioned before, we were absolutely fascinated when we visited a recycling depot at Beenham and I can assure you that you will find the talk most interesting- do make sure that you keep the date free

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP KEEP OUR POST OFFICE IN BUSINESS

You don’t need me to tell you how vital it is that we support our Post Office. Now is the time when you can really help.. This information is vitally important so if you do not fully understand it, please go and have a chat with Denise at the Post Office.

If you receive a pension or allowance which you draw at the Post Office, you will receive a letter from the Department of Works and Pensions who will ask for details of your bank account in order that in future your pension or allowance can be paid directly into your account. IF YOU GIVE THIS INFORMATION, APART FROM HAVING TO MAKE A 5 MILE JOURNEY TO YOUR BANK, YOU WILL BE TAKING BUSINESS AWAY FROM THE POST OFFICE.

If you still wish to obtain your money from the Post Office, and at the same time to keep them in business, you can do so by taking the following action.

WHEN YOU RECEIVE THE LETTER, REPLY IN THE FORM AS STATED BELOW AND THIS WILL ENABLE YOU TO RECEIVE A POST OFFICE CARD ACCOUNT.

This is free of charge and you can nominate somebody to act for you if you wish, but you will be able to withdraw your money as before, from the Post Office. THERE IS NO NEED TO STATE WHETHER OR NOT YOU HAVE A BANK ACCOUNT AND NO NEED TO OPEN ONE.

Form of letter to Department of Works and Pensions

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am aware that I need an account in order to continue receiving my payments. I have read the options open to me and my choice is to have a POST OFFICE CARD ACCOUNT. I do not need to discuss my options with you. Please send my PERSONAL INVITATION DOCUMENTS to me at the following address:-

Name……..Address………Post Code……… Benefit Type……… Reference no……….

Yours faithfully

AS ALREADY STATED, DO DISCUSS THIS WITH DENISE IF YOU ARE UNSURE

RE-CYCLING
It is estimated that about 53% of households in the District participate in the kerbside re-cycling scheme – are you one of the 53%? It is hoped that by the end of this year the figure will have risen to 70%.

Garden and kitchen waste make up 30% of the contents of the average dustbin, so we are encouraged to carry out home composting as much as possible. If you cannot compost in the garden, reduced priced home composters are available – ring 01865 815281.

During 2002, Oxfordshire residents produced the lowest amount of rubbish in England. How’s that for fame?
